Recyclable Material Preparation Guidelines


All material must be clean.

Do not put material in plastic bags.
Glass must be separate.

The list of Acceptable Recyclable Material includes:
Cardboard, Clean and Flattened, Not mixed with trash, Paper such as newspaper, junk mail, magazines, mixed office paper, & computer paper, Paperback books, Phone Books, Kraft Paper Bags, & Empty Aerosol Cans, Metal cans (labels can still be on), Pots, Pans, Loose Aluminum Foil, ect.


The Following Material is NOT Recyclable (NOT ACCEPTABLE)
Styrofoam of any kind (#6 Plastic), Any dirty or contaminated recyclable material, trash, wax paper, Carbon paper, Photos, Tissues, Napkins, Paper Towels, Paper Plates, Hard Cover Book Covers, Crayon Drawings, Smoking Materials, Any Plastic Bags, Mirrors, Ceramics, Ovenware, Dishes, Cups, Clay Pots, Crystal, Window Glass,
Plate Glass, Light Bulbs, Medicine Bottles, Container Lids under four inches,
Unmarked Plastic (No recycling arrows or numbers), Foil Liners, Fiber Cans,
Stretch Wrap, Plastic Packaging Wrap, Wrapping Paper, Film, Green & Brown Glass,
Oil (Cooking & Motor & Hydraulic) Containers, Anti-Freeze Containers, Pesticide
Containers, Needles, Syringes, Bullets, Shotgun Shells, Other Hazordous Material.

Mitchell County Rural Recycling Containers
All material clean and dry. No plastic bags (even if they are marked as recyclable)

Box #3: Clean newspaper, magazines, newspaper inserts, flyers, white office paper, bulk business (junk) mail free of non-paper inserts, clean shredded paper (loose), phone books (no covers), computer paper, paperback books with no covers, hard-bound books with no covers. No binders, notebooks, paper clips, metal or plastic binding. Small staples okay.

Cardboard Dumpsters (2): Flattened corrugated cardboard, small amounts of chipboard (cereal boxes), kraft (brown) paper bags (feed sacks) - no plastic liners, slip sheets with no waxy coating, etc.

Container Box #5:
Plastic containers marked with number 1 through 5 and number 7 inside the chasing arrow recycling emblem (no number 6 polystyrene or Styrofoam). Plastic containers must have the lids removed and discarded unless the lids are larger than four inches in diameter and have the number 1 through number 5 or number 7 inside the chasing arrow recycling emblem marked on them. Also, may place tin cans (okay to have labels on the cans), aluminum cans, small steel pieces, aluminum foil, etc in with this material. All containers must be free of food residue! No Glass! No plastic bags, even if they are marked as being recyclable with the number 1 through number 5 or number 7 inside the chasing arrow recycling emblem marked on them.

Clear Containers Glass Box #6: Clear glass container without lids ONLY. Must be clean! Labels may be left on. No colored glass. No window glass. No pyrex (cookware). No plastic bags.

We accept used motor oil. We can supply an empty drum.
